Baset in New Haven, Anne Rhodes (b. 1976) performs a wide variety of experimental, improvised, and classical music. She has premiered solo and chamber works, as well as opera roles, by more than thirty composers, including Anthony Braxton, Matthew Welch, Taylor Ho Bynum, Carl Testa, and Alvin Lucier. Rhodes performs as a member of the improvisation trio Broadcloth, for which she produces unique embroidered graphic notation. She is a principle singer and an assistant conductor for Anthony Braxton's Tri-Centric Orchestra. Her duo recording with Braxton (GTM Syntax 2007, Leo Records) has been called “one of art’s great male-female pairings” (Lawrence Cosentino, Signal to Noise). Rhodes studies voice with Elizabeth Saunders.
